Works Great!

by Paul from on 2010-08-26
Had this thing for a couple months now, and it works great. Loud, yes - on medium or high. Solution - we run it when we're at work, and when we're sleeping upstairs. When we're in the room, it's on low or turned off. The reduction in dust in our living room is significant, especially considering the space exceeds the maximum rating for the machine. Cuts down on allergies, stuffy nose, etc - overall works great. You can see from the accumulation on the pre-filter what the machine has saved you from breathing in. Well worth the money.

Relief after living next to a quarry....

by Andrey Dravinski from Los Angeles California on 2010-08-23
I moved out to a condo that is less than 2 miles from a rock quarry in the Azusa CA area. As a result, every time I run the AC, or open a window, nearly everything nearby is coated in a fine, gritty patina of dust. Lately this has been affecting my sleep the point that I'm waking up with a horrible raspy throat and runny nose. I decided to purchase this model for my living room and the Quietcare 17000 for my bedroom to see if I could improve the overall air quality in the condo and also minimize my issues that I was having going to sleep. I've had them for about a week now and I have to say the improvement is indeed quite noticeable. The air feels noticeably fresher and cleaner, I can't really describe it any other way. The odors from the adjoining kitchen (food, smoke, trashcan, recycling bin, etc) are effectively absorbed by this unit and the built-in fan circulates the air quite nicely as well. Sleep at night has also gotten better as well. I'm no longer waking up at night with a mouth and sinus cavity full of gunk and my throat is not nearly as sore as it used to be. I'd say the only downside is that the "Turbo" and "Home" settings (High and Medium for you and me) are noticeably, well...there's no way to mince words with this...they're freaking loud. Particularly Turbo. I'd say you can only really use these settings if you say leave for the day and not have anyone in the immediate vicinity of this device because at those levels the noise is quite overpowering and I doubt anyone could really do anything in the same room as this filter while it's on its maximum fan settings. Other than the leafblower levels of noise with its max fan settings, this is a fine HEPA air cleaner for your residence. The 384 sq feet of coverage is fantastic, it actually circulates the air in the room very well, and will allow you to improve the air quality inside your home very nicely. The permanent filter and the ability to clean it without outright replacing it is a welcome feature in today's tough economy.

good product, good price

by kentola from on 2010-08-08
We purchased the Honeywell 50250 several weeks ago after a fair amount of research. The filter works as promised. We both noticed great relief from allergies and sleep better too. It is a bit on the noisy side, we have it on low at night, and have gotten used to it. No problems at all.

Like sitting in the front row of a Spinal Tap Concert

by cdnbud from on 2010-08-08
We have had a Honeywell HEPA filter for over 10 years now and we decided to buy another one and put the old one in the garage. The new one pushes a lot of air...but then again, so does Grandpa. Oh, sure it cleans the air great in the high setting, but it will chase you out of the room like a visit from your mother-in-law, because its so loud. The low setting is tolerable but the humm does get to you after a while. You notice the quiet when you finally shut it off. We turn the new Honeywell on high at night, medium or low during the day, and low to off in the evenings.

FABULOUS - Working perfectly after 3 years

by FineArtBuyer from East Coast on 2010-08-03
I bought this 3 years ago and have had it plugged in and running almost all the time. It continues to work perfectly. The large circular filter only needs vacuuming every couple of months and the outer filter you change every three months. It takes an amazing amount of junk out of the air. It sits in my bedroom so it also provides a 'white-noise' background that is soothing. This unit is not ultra quiet but that's OK because it cleans the air so well. This unit is the real deal and not a light weight piece of junk. We love it.

It is crucial to keep particles like pet dander, mold spores and dust to a minimum in your household. We know that it is not always possible, but there are some things you can do to help, like dusting all knick knacks and furniture, cleaning floors and opening windows, when the weather allows, to let the outside air circulate. It has been demonstrated that outdoor air is a lot cleaner than indoor air. Honeywell air purifiers are a good way to improve the quality of air in your home or office. It will give you the ultimate protection from dust, mite allergens, mold spores, smoke, pollen and animal dander. And some models will shield you from bacteria and viruses that are in the air you breathe.

Before purchasing any air purifier you should bear certain things in mind. Is the machine durable? Is the filter easy to replace or does it include a permanent filter? How noisy is the device when it's working? Can you trust the vendor and its return policy?

Honeywell can trace its roots all the way back to 1885 so it is a business that has a proven pedigree. They produce good quality products and they are a company that you can rely on. Many doctors recommend Honeywell air purifiers to their patients. There are some different models available for any room size: small, medium and large.

50250 True HEPA Honeywell Air Purifier (Pictured Above)
This device is very good for big rooms and will clear away 99.97 percent of airborne particles like dust, pet dander, mold spores and smoke, and will also help to remove viruses and bacteria - all without using chemicals or other substances. It comes with an electronic filter indicator that will remind you when the filter should be cleaned. It is most effective for rooms up to 390 square feet and costs about 200 dollars.

17000 QuietCare True HEPA Honeywell Air Purifier
This model provides a lot of of the same features as the 50200 but it's a bit smaller and recommended for rooms up to 2 hundred square feet. It offers sound reducing technology and will change the air in your room up to every 12 minutes. It will set you back approximately $150.

16200 HEPA-type Tabletop Honeywell Air Purifier
This tabletop model is effective for a room (or office) up to 80 feet square. Since it is equipped with a True HEPA filter it will filter about 95 percent of airborne particles. The device can be used in a vertical or horizontal orientation so it will fit into very small spaces, if required. It costs something like sixty dollars.

There are other Honeywell air purifiers to select from and the one you opt for will depend on the features that are most important to you and the size of room you you will be using it in. It is easy to do an Internet comparison and remember to look at Internet sites like Amazon and eBay. You may well be able to find a real bargain on a quality air purifier that could seriously improve the quality of air in your home.
